A documentary film that depicts the debates and controversies surrounding Indonesia’s desires to build
nuclear power plants in Central Java. Focusing on the revival of nuclear power and the strong opposition
of civil society groups, this documentary illustrates the public discourse on high-risk technology
in an emerging democracy marked by the contradictory views between civic epistemology and
technocratic decision-making. Showing how different social groups have different ideas and perceptions
about nuclear power, this documentary deepens our understanding on the relationship between
technology and society in the Southeast Asian context.
