How can new and emerging technologies and digitalized infrastructures promote responsible innovation and environmental and social sustainability

Highlighting the political nature of artificial intelligence and cyber-physical systems, the goal of this group is to stress the importance of responsible research and innovation and environmental and social sustainability. This group particularly focuses on energy and transportation systems (but we are open to researching other technologies that may also impact social and environmental sustainability), and it perceives new and emerging technologies as tools that can promote climate change mitigation and adaptation, reduce social marginalization, and cultivate safety, security, and democracy. We are a mixed methods group and are open to quantitative methods such as inferential and Bayesian statistics, network analysis, and computational social science as well as qualitative methods such as content analysis and qualitative comparative analysis (QCA).
