The Graduate School of Science and Technology Policy at KAIST conducts research and education on major issues at the intersection of science, technology, and public policy. STP welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds in science, engineering, humanities, social sciences, medicine, and law.

Master's Program

  • Curriculum includes basic courses in public policy, political science, economics, cultural studies, and historical analysis, to address science and technology policy.
  • Requires students to write a master's thesis within 2 years.
  • Guides graduates in continuing their academic training in a doctoral program or in pursuing professional careers in government, international organizations, NGOs, private sector, and journalism.

Doctoral Program

  • Accepts students with a master’s degree in policy-related fields, including political science, economics, sociology, journalism, geography and urban studies, anthropology, history, and STS. We also welcome PhDs, MDs, and JDs who wish to pursue a second doctoral degree in STP.
  • Requires students to complete a doctoral dissertation within 4 years, depending on the number of courses that can be waived from previous education.
  • Prepares students for academic careers in teaching and research, or for high-level positions of policy-making and policy-analysis in government, international organizations, NGOs, private sector, and journalism.

The Mid-Career Program aims to cultuvate globally minded science and technology practitioners and equip them with relevant international perspective and expertise for use in the knowledge convergence of the globalized 21st century. We welcome applicants with at least 3 to 5 years of working experience from a wide variety of professinos, such as government-funded research institutes, central and local governmnet offices, and industry and private sectors. The program is designed for field experts and practitioners of science and technology policy, and offers part-time enrollment and systematized training in policy and administrative studies.

Mid-Career Master’s Program

  • Applicants much have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience in a field with close relation to science and technology, or relevant policy areas.
  • Curriculum includes basic courses in public policy, political science, economics, cultural studies, and historical analysis, to address science and technology policy.
  • Requires students to write a master’s thesis within 2 years.

Mid-Career Doctoral Program

  • Applicants much have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a field with close relation to science and technology, or relevant policy areas.
  • Applicants must hold a master’s degree in sciences, engineering, or other policy-related fields.
  • Requires students to complete a doctoral dissertation within 4 years, depending on the number of courses that can be waived from previous education.

Students & Scholarships

  • KAIST Scholarship
    • All tuition and expenses are covered by government funds.
  • General Scholarship
    • Applicant’s affiliated organization or the applicant will cover all tuition and expenses.

        

     For all applicants to STP, scholarships/financial aid/fellowship are available based on merit.
